I’ve been adrift for the last 10 years–geographically speaking. I was born in the United States, but most of my adult life has been spent abroad. It’s difficult for me to fathom staying in one place for more than a year. If I do stay in one place for more than a year, it isn’t due to any planning on my part. My life has been incredibly unexpected at every turn. Just when I thought I had things figured out, an opportunity would come like a rogue wave, catching me off guard, and push me in another unknown direction. And like this I’ve let the currents of potential drag me around this wondrous world. I’ve learned languages that I never had a particular desire to learn, all because I found myself in places I never planned to go. In addition to the languages learned, I’ve also picked up fulfilling hobbies along the way. Surfing, wandering, painting, and reading are my free time go-to’s.
For the past decade, I’ve mostly focused on photography as a way to capture the beauty of the world around me. After a long hiatus, I’ve recently (in the last year) started painting again. I’m learning heaps about what I can do artistically. Pushing through the doubt and adapting to the challenges, creating something completely unexpected. Ultimately, I wind up once again somewhere I didn’t intend to go but it’s wonderful..Story of my life.
